Northenden Community Library has been based in Parkway Green House on Palatine Road for the past 10 years but will relocate, as future usage of the building is uncertain.
Having assessed their need for office space post-pandemic, owners of the building, Wythenshawe Community Housing Group (WCHG) are considering options for its use.
Manchester City Council says that ‘keeping the library services in the village is paramount’ and have announced that St Wilfrid’s Church has agreed to accommodate library services into the church hall 'when Parkway Green closes'.
Opening hours will remain the same and the library will be staffed during all opening hours. Activities such as the weekly under 5s story-time will continue.
A collection of children’s books and a small selection of adult fiction books will be retained as a permanent collection, and all books from all Manchester Libraries will be available to be reserved and collected from St Wilfrid’s Church Hall.
There will be some desk space for studying and staff will support with digital enquiries and signpost to other nearby IT provision.
